National Restaurant Association and HotelEx
Following a packed European events agenda in early spring, the global team was out in force once again at major events in both the USA and China.
Stronger than ever, with an increase of 8% of delegates, the National Restaurant Association (NRA), Chicago, 20-23 May 2023, welcomed nearly 55,000 foodservice professionals from all over the US. International attendance accounted for 15% of the total registration, highlighting the show's growing global appeal with delegates from 107 countries.
Welbilt was well represented. Together with AliGroup, we had no less than 19 booths, showcasing solutions in five categories: Cooking, Refrigeration, Washing & Waste Management, Ice-makers, and Meal Delivery, preparation & storage.
As a double Kitchen Innovations Award 2023 winner, the team was proud to take their place in the event's Kitchen Innovations showroom, showcasing two winning innovations: ConvoSense from Convotherm and the Merrychef conneX® range with integrated panini press.
ConvoSense, the world's first AI-controlled, fully automatic cooking and baking system is especially suitable for mixed loads, automatically recognising the food being cooked during loading.
We were also delighted to share the stage with PreciTaste for their ‘Taste of AI’ event where we joined speakers from Urbanbelly, Slutty Vegan and Cleveland Avenue for a fireside chat about the future of Artificial Intelligence.

In Asia, the team exhibited at their biggest event of the year to date: HotelEx, Shanghai, 29 May to 1 June
Hotelex Shanghai welcomed some 200,000 professionals to an area of 400,000m2 with a full range of products on display.
Welbilt proudly presented our innovative portfolio of world-class brands, including Convotherm combi ovens, Merrychef High-Speed Ovens and Tecnomac blast chillers.
The culinary team from China showcased the strengths and efficiency of various products live, cooking a wide range of food using a variety of methods. At the Gala dinner we hosted new clients and used the opportunity to also thank fourteen of our partners.
As both events demonstrated, Welbilt solutions are designed to meet the exact needs of professional chefs today, in kitchens both large and small, including the newly launched Convotherm maxx pro floor-standing model and the high-speed MerryChef ConneX. Our products address the need for smart appliances that help to bring food to the table in the most sustainable and efficient way.
