With the Convotherm maxx pro to the crown of culinary art

For more than 20 years, the Welbilt brand Convotherm has been a proud sponsor of the international cooking competition Bocuse d'Or. And it goes without saying that Convotherm will once again be part of the team at the worldwide Grand Final in January.

Since 1987, the world's best chefs have competed for the "Golden Bocuse" every two years at the SIRHA trade show in France's culinary capital, Lyon. The prestigious competition was launched by French three-star chef Paul Bocuse and today more than ever, it is an incubator for talent, where commitment, passion, technology and creativity continue to raise the bar for tomorrow's culinary excellence. Welbilt's Convotherm brand has supported the exceptional competition as a major sponsor for more than two decades, most recently at the European finals in Budapest in March 2022, where the selected menus were prepared using industry-leading Convotherm combi oven technology.

Innovation and sustainability

For the first time, the new generation of Convotherm maxx pro combi ovens were in use, supporting the ambitious professional chefs from 18 European countries in their demanding task with its pioneering technology, which is based on innovation and sustainability, in line with our Advancing Your Ambitions philosophy. The premium appliance was developed to meet the highest demands and impresses with durable "made in Germany" top quality, as well as technical innovations that really add value for the different needs of chefs from all over the world. The victory for the team from Denmark was won in Budapest by Brian Mark Hansen from the Soelleroed Kro restaurant in Holte. Silver and  bronze went to Hungary and Norway.

A total of ten European country teams will travel to Lyon for the Grand Final on 22-23 January 2023. Expectations for the Bocuse d'Or 2023 are high, as the prestigious competition is renewing itself step-by-step in order to continue to live up to its role as a hotbed of inspiration for tomorrow's gastronomy. Among other things, the Social Commitment Award will be presented for the first time as an award for social commitment. The aim is to reward teams for actions such as food-aid and combating waste.

In culinary terms, the focus at the finale will be on monkfish, amongst other things. The participants will face the challenge of creating a plate for 15 people in five and a half hours.
